Gino Alho

Head Biokineticist

Gino received his degree in Sport Science and BSc honours degree in Biokinetics with Cum Laude at the University of Pretoria. During his studies, he also acted as a junior sports scientist for the head physiologist of the national rowing team.

Following his qualifications, he completed his internship year at the Sport, Exercise Medicine and Lifestyle Institute based at the University of Pretoria. This gave him a tremendous amount of experience both in a clinical and performance context due to the multidisciplinary nature of the institute.

Gino has experience in working with a broad variety of individuals with their own unique needs. This included those struggling with various chronic conditions (arthritis, heart disease, diabetes), orthopaedic injuries or conditions to athletes competing at a school level all the way up to an elite Olympic and Paralympic level.

Gino has a special interest in orthopaedics. He specifically enjoys the process of helping patients safely return to normal functioning on a daily basis and during sports-related tasks. Gino strives to provide the best possible treatment. As a result, he stays up to date with the latest research and consistently consults with other medical professionals.

Receptionist

Shania Jansen van Vuuren

Practice Manager & Water Aerobics Instructor

She holds a BCom Hons degree in Supply Chain Management from University of Pretoria and, in 2025, made a purposeful transition from transport management to what she fondly refers to as “people management”. As the practice manager she takes care of patient-, marketing-, and financial administration and ensures daily operations run smoothly.

With a background in dance, she also stepped in to lead the practice’s water aerobics classes, combining movement, rhythm, and aid in rehabilitation. During 2025 she got her SAWFA AquaFit qualification.

She finds great fulfilment in witnessing patients’ journeys—from their first appointment with an injury to their final session, leaving recovered and in good health. Her goal is to support the practice by making exercise not only effective, but enjoyable, while contributing to a positive and encouraging environment for every patient who walks through the door.
