Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions we receive below. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, simply get in touch by phone, email, or WhatsApp, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

We are healthcare professionals dedicated to improving your physical health, function, and overall well-being. Our primary goal is to help you achieve a better quality of life.

Comprehensive Assessment:

We begin with a comprehensive assessment and develop a personalised exercise programmes tailored to your needs. Exercise therapy is used to treat acute orthopaedic injuries and manage chronic conditions that affect your health, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer.

Exercise Programmes:

Individually designed exercise programmes support health & weight management. In addition, we promote healthy lifestyles and help prevent injuries and hypokinetic diseases associated with low levels of physical activity. By encouraging regular movement and healthy habits, we help you build long-term wellness.

Rather than simply treating your symptoms, we identify the underlying cause of your condition. This approach allows us to manage your condition effectively, help you return to the activities you enjoy, and reduce your risk of future injuries or recurring problems.

Biokineticists and physiotherapists are both healthcare professionals who play important roles in rehabilitation. However, they focus on different stages of recovery and use different treatment approaches.

Physiotherapists :

Often manage the initial phase of rehabilitation after an injury or condition, particularly when a certain degree of pain, swelling, or inflammation is present and limits movement. They use techniques such as manual therapy, soft tissue treatment, joint mobilisation, electrotherapy, and therapeutic exercise to reduce pain, restore movement, and promote healing.

Biokineticists :

Are exercise specialists who are focused on preventative healthcare (injury and disease), maintenance of physical abilities and final phase rehabilitation. The final phase of rehabilitation refers to the period where exercise therapy forms the main component of your treatment. We specialise in exercise therapy to restore strength, mobility, endurance, balance, and function after injury or surgery. We also help manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and arthritis through scientifically prescribed exercise programmes.

Unlike physiotherapists, biokineticists do not perform manual therapy techniques such as massage, dry needling, or joint manipulation. Instead, we use evidence-based exercise programmes tailored to your individual needs and goals.

The two professions often work together. A physiotherapist may treat the early stages of an injury, while a biokineticist guides the later stages of rehabilitation to help you return safely to work, sport, and everyday activities. If you’re unsure which professional to see, contact us and we’ll be happy to advise you or refer you to one of our trusted physiotherapists if needed.

We are registered healthcare providers with all major medical aid schemes. This allows us to submit claims directly to your medical aid on your behalf, reducing the administrative burden for you.

Yes. Children and adolescents can safely participate in a well-designed exercise programme.

Research has shown that resistance training does not stunt growth or damage growth plates when qualified professionals supervise the programme.

A biokineticist designs each exercise programme according to your child’s age, ability, and goals. We focus on teaching proper technique, progressing exercises safely, and creating a positive, enjoyable environment.

Regular exercise and resistance training offer many benefits for children and adolescents, including:
  • Increased strength, power, and speed.
  • Improved body composition.
  • Stronger bones and improved bone density.
  • A reduced risk of sports and everyday injuries.
  • Improved balance, coordination, and movement skills.
  • Increased confidence and overall physical well-being.

By developing healthy movement habits early in life, children can build a strong foundation for lifelong health and physical activity.
