Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy, also known as aqua therapy or water-based therapy, involves therapeutic exercise performed in water under the guidance of a healthcare professional. The unique properties of water create a weightless, low-impact, supportive environment that reduces stress on the muscles, joints, and bones while allowing individuals to move more freely and comfortably.

At Health & Fitness Hub, our qualified Biokineticists provide specialised hydrotherapy sessions tailored to each individual’s needs. These water-based rehabilitation programmes are designed to assist with recovery from injuries, management of chronic conditions, and post-surgical rehabilitation, including procedures such as knee replacements.

Hydrotherapy can play an important role in improving mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and overall functional ability. It is particularly beneficial for individuals who may struggle with land-based exercise due to pain, weakness, or limited mobility.

As a result, hydrotherapy forms an integral part of rehabilitation for individuals with spinal cord injuries (including paraplegia), amputations, post-operative recovery, and a wide range of orthopaedic conditions. Chronic conditions that often respond well to hydrotherapy include Transverse Myelitis, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, and Cerebral Palsy, among many others.

Through guided movement and targeted exercise in water, our Biokineticists aim to help patients regain confidence, improve physical function, and enhance their overall quality of life.

  3. The buoyancy of water reduces the weight-bearing stress on our bodies
  4. The buoyancy effect of water provides the optimal environment for re-education of specific fundamental movement patterns (i.e., walking)
  5. Improved circulation
  6. Relaxing and calming effect
  7. Improve muscle strength and endurance
